Even though Bulgaria does not consider sending its own planes to Japan, the country's Foreign Ministry has arranged for its citizens willing to be evacuated to get on board of foreign planes.

The Bulgarian citizens who consider leaving Japan may do so courtesy of one of 3 flights, provided by fellow EU members. The country's Foreign Ministry has also provided this phone number for additional information 0081 90 60313465.

A Belgian plane will be available for Bulgarians free of charge early on Saturday local time. Those willing to book it might do so at tokyo@diplobel.fed.be, the Belgian Embassy in Tokyo's email. The plane will execute 3 flight between Tokyo and Seoul if necessary. Returning to Tokyo will be paid by the citizens.

A Swedish SAS flight to Bangkok will be available for Bulgarians at 7.00 am Saturday at the Narita Airport, booking may be done at the airport's SAS office. The tickets cost EUR 400.

A Sunday Dutch KLM flight to Hague will be also available on Sunday in exchange for EUR 700, booking may be done at KLM's office on behalf of the Dutch Embassy in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Japan has raised the alert level at a stricken nuclear plant from four to five on a seven-point international scale for atomic events. The move places the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi site on a par with Three Mile Island nuclear accident in the US in 1979 and just two levels below Ukraine's 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
