France Opposes Demilitarization of Ukraine
French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated that France will firmly oppose any move to demilitarize Ukraine
The son of Libyan dictator Muammer Gaddafi, Seif Al-Islam, has told French President Nicolas Sarkozy to return money that the Gaddafi regime allegedly gave to finances the latter's presidential campaign in 2007.
In an interview for Euronews, Seif al-Islam called the President of France a "clown" and threatened to reveal compromising secrets about Sarkozy.
The Gaddafi regime has been infuriated by the fact that France recognized the government of the pro-democracy rebels in Eastern Libya, and established relations with them.
"Firstly Sarkozy must repay Libya the money he took for his election campaign. We financed his election campaign and we have all the details and we are ready to publish them. The first thing we ask of this clown Sarkozy is that he repay this money to the Libyan people. We helped him become president so that he would help the Libyan people but he has disappointed us. And very soon we will publish all the details and the documents and banking pay slips," Seif Al-Islam said on Euronews.
Muammar Gaddafi's son reiterated his claims that the uprising in Libya is staged by Al Qaeda, other Islamists, and criminal groups rather than being a legitimate protest movement.
"In 48 hours we will have finished our military operation. We are at the gates of Benghazi," he declared.
The office of President Nicolas Sarkozy has denied the claims made by Seif Al-Islam about the campaign funding.
