BG-Alert System Fails Again to Send Messages During Test
The BG-Alert early warning system for disasters and emergencies once again failed to send messages to citizens in Bulgaria during its scheduled test today
The police are probing Thursday afternoon an alert about anthrax being left inside the City Hall building in downtown Sofia.
The alert has been received via phone when a female voice called the City Hall insisting someone had delivered a backpack with the harmful substance inside the building.
The Deputy Mayor, Ivan Sotirov, informed media that both police and civil defense teams are conducting a thorough check of the building.
Upon conclusion of the check, the municipal administration employees are to return and immediately resume work.
Unlike bomb threats, this one does not require sealing off the building for 24 hours, Sotirov informs.
