The Bulgarian government will prepare a special recovery program for its poorest region – Severozapaden (Northwestern) – the country's parliamentary speaker, Tsetska Tsacheva, announced Saturday.
Tsacheva, who spoke in the Danube city of Vidin, vowed that measures will be taken towards supporting the business in the impoverished region, especially in the agriculture sector, and attracting more EU funds to it.
"We must use the resources the region possesses – the Danube river, the clean nature, the historical and cultural monuments, the Belogradchik rocks," Tsacheva declared. The Belogradchik Rocks are a group of bizarrely shaped sandstone, limestone and conglomerate rock formations located on the western slopes of the Balkan Mountain.
