Hollywood Star Nina Dobrev: Bulgarian Media So Nice to Me
Bulgaria-born Canadian actress Nina Dobrev said she feels honored every time she is featured in Bulgarian media because all the publications are very positive.
"My family tells me everything that is published about me. I am so happy I have Bulgaria's support. It is always an honor for me to be featured in Bulgarian media, considering all the nice things people write about me. People are so good and positive to me," Dorbev said in an interview for the Bulgarian Story magazine.
The 22-year-old actress, who gained worldwide popularity for her roles as Elena and Katherine in the hit TV series "The Vampire Diaries", explained how one of her roles got to be a Bulgarian.
"One day the producers heard me talking on the phone to my mom in Bulgarian and they thought Katherine should be of Bulgarian origin. They wanted to use my knowledge of another language to add depth and color to the character," Dorbev said.
She added that speaking in Bulgarian in the TV show was a great experience.
"I am proud to be Bulgarian and I hope that I have represented Bulgaria well and that I have done a good job," she said.
However, the Hollywood star was more reserved about questions for her personal life.
Born in Bulgaria, Nina Dobrev moved to Canada at the age of 2 and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She currently lives inLos Angeles, California and in Atlanta, Georgia, where "The Vampire Diaries" is filmed.
"If I had the time, I would want a combination between a gentle man who will always listen to me and protect me, but who will also be spontaneous and break the rules," Dobrev said.
