Record Winter Tourism Numbers Reported in Bansko
Bansko, Bulgaria's premier mountain resort, experienced a surge in winter tourism, with more than 190,000 visitors flocking to its slopes during the season
G?nter Hujara, the International Ski Federation, FIS, Chief Race Director for the Men Ski World Cup has sent a thank you letter to the President of the Bulgarian Ski Federation, Tseko Minev.
The letter gives high marks to the organizers of the Men Ski World Cup in Bulgaria's winter resort Bansko over the past weekend.
"It was a great pleasure for us to work with your extremely organized and highly motivated team. We extend great compliments for the perfect organization in Bansko," the letter reads.
The FIS assessment is also reported as highly positive.
On Saturday, Italian Thomas Innerhofer, pulled off a highly dramatic win in the super giant slalom race, while on Sunday, former world champion, Austrian veteran, Mario Matt, grabbed the World Cup slalom.
During the next season, Bansko will host the Women World Cup Slalom and Super Giant Slalom Race on February 25 and 26.
