French skier Thomas Mermillod Blondin, who finished third at the Super G race in the ski World Cup 2011 in Bulgaria's Bansko did not hide his excitement at the achievement.

"What happened is a dream come true," said Blondin at the press-conference after the race, adding, "There is no way for me to hold but excellent feelings for Bansko, since it is here that I made this."

This is Mermillod Blondin's first medal in a World Cup race. Moreover, at Saturday morning's race the Frenchman finished a mere 15th.

But then he made up during the afternoon race, achieving a stunning performance to finish at 2:24.20 min, 0.33 sec behind winner, Italian Thomas Innerhofer.
