The Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has declared a code yellow for southern Bulgaria over heavy snow fall.
Code yellow is a warning meaning people must use caution because the weather is potentially dangerous.
Currently, the heaviest snow fall is registered in northwestern Bulgaria, reaching 26 cm in the Danube city of Vidin. In the afternoon, however, the snow will move to to the eastern and southern parts of the country. High accumulations are expected.
There is also a code yellow for strong winds in eastern Bulgaria, particularly on the Black Sea coast all day long. The city of Burgas has registered gusts of 70 km/h.
