Staff dismissals and changes are pending at the Bulgarian State Agency for National Security (DANS), Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, declared Wednesday.

In a phone interview for the TV channel bTV, Borisov said he would execute those changes without hesitating if DANS' leadership fails to provide security of information and to stop the scandalous leaks of classified special surveillance devices (SRS).

Borisov further announced that a package of measures, including legal ones, on the SRS use is going to be proposed in the beginning of next week, and informed he had spoken to DANS Director, Tsvelin Yovchev, warning him the situation with the leaks must not have a repeat.

When asked what must happen in order for him to make a decision to part with Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, the PM replied: "If he would be proven guilty. And guilt means failing to establish the needed organization to make authorities work in service of society. Guilt is also a matter of the Prosecutor' Office."

Borisov further commented on Tsvetanov's appointment as head of the campaign headquarters of the ruling center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, for the presidential and local elections in October 2011, saying the Minister will take leave in order to not have two major jobs at once.

The PM informed GERB will announce the name of their nominee for President in June-July, adding it is possible to combine the head of campaign headquarters and running for president posts.

Borisov dismissed information the Secretary of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers, Rumen Milanov, will replace Tsvetanov, and informed Milanov will be Head of the Center for Combatting Corruption (BORKOR) while former DANS Director, under the term of the previous, Socialist-led cabinet, Petko Sertov, will be Milanov's assistant.

When asked to comment on accusations of controversial businessman and former DANS employee, Aleksei Petrov, Borisov had been involved in a 2002 terrorist attack on Petrov's life, the PM pointed this has been an attempt to divert attention and of fabricating stories to get ahead in the game since legal charges are still pending against the former DANS employee.

Regarding the Tuesday accident involving his official car procession, Borisov explained he never saw what part of the road the leading car driving was on, but the procession's drivers were obeying the speed limit and have not caused the fender-bender.

The PM said he had asked the Director of the National Security Services (NSO), which operate the Bulgarian officials' vehicles, to attend the Wednesday Council of Ministers meeting to provide explanations on what had exactly happened and what measures will be undertaken to avoid similar incidents in the future.
