Sofia City court is expected to deliver on Wednesday its verdict in the case against the notorious former president of the Bulgarian CSKA Football Club, Alexander Tomov.

Tomov, who is also the former CEO of Bulgaria's troubled and now closed steel mill Kremikotzi, is currently being tried for document fraud and large-scale embezzlement of over EUR 5 M from CSKA and BGN 29 M from the mill.

The other defendants are the ex CSKA CEO, Alexander Garibov, and the member of the Kremikovtzi Managing Board, Ivan Ivanov.

Tomov blames the former PM and leader of the now opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Sergey Stanishev, and the former socialist Economy Minister, Petar Dimtirov, for the mill's bankruptcy.

Tomov's alleged crimes call for a sentence of 10 to 20 years. The prosecutor has asked for a sentence of 15 years behind bars, saying the crime is extremely grave. He also asked for the confiscation of all of Tomov's assets.
