Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, declared Thursday the Director of the Customs Agency, Vanyo Tanov, is keeping his post.

Djankov spoke during the symbolic 2011 start of the trade of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) shares on the bourse.

The Minister's words came in the aftermath of Wednesday's release of tapes with discrediting conversations involving himself, his Deputy, Vladislav Goranov, and Tanov, discussing Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

Three tapes of conversations between Tanov and his superiors – Dajnkov, and Goranov, – were released at a news conference Wednesday by the Galeria weekly, a paper believed to be the mouthpiece of Aleksei Petrov, (currently under house arrest) former special agent of the State National Security Agency DANS, who has been investigated on organized crime charges since his arrest in the much advertised "Operation Octopus" in February 2010.

Djankov said Thursday the Customs Agency is doing a great job under Tanov's leadership, pointing out the collection of revenues in 2010 has been 101% of what was planned.

The Finance Minister declared there was no conflict between him and his counterpart, Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, adding they work very well together.

Djankov further stated he also works very well with his Deputy, Vladislav Goranov, and declined any further comments on the tapes.
