The Internet phone service Skype has apologized for causing an outage that hit millions of people around the globe, the BBC reported.
Users in Japan, the United States and Europe, including Bulgaria, have reported problems.
“We take outages like this really seriously and apologize for the inconvenience users are having,” Tony Bates, Skype CEO, told the BBC.
He has explained that the users are coming on and offline and sometimes they are crashing in the middle of phone calls.
“We are deep in the middle of investigating the cause of the problem and have teams working hard to remedy the situation,” Bates told the BBC.
Skype posted a message on Twitter, saying that “engineers and site operations team are working non-stop to get things back to normal.”
Bates did not rule out a malicious attack and said that “all avenues” were being explored.
In his estimation, Skype lost around 10 million calls as a result of the outage.
