Greek railroad workers have started a strike, which will continue at least five days, the Bulgarian daily “24 Chasa” (24 Hours) has announced.

The trains have stopped working for six hours. Another 6-hour strike will be organized on Monday and the railroad transport in the country will be stopped completely between 2-4 pm.

The railroad workers are protesting against the government’s decision to cut more than 2,300 out of the 6,500 workers in the sector.

Another set of protests is scheduled for next week when the Greek government is planning to change the labor legislation on a request by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.

It has not been announced yet whether the Greek strike will affect the schedule of the Bulgarian trains.
