Wekileaks founder Julian Assange continues to be on Interpol's "Most Wanted" list after the Swedish Supreme Court denied his appeal.

Interpol issued a "red notice", which allows arrest warrants issued by national police authorities to be circulated to other countries to facilitate arrests and help possible extradition.

There is a strong enough basis to question Assange on "probable cause suspected of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion", allegedly committed in Sweden in August, the Swedish Supreme court stated.

39-year-old Assange submitted the appeal to the court on November 30th after a prior appeal was rejected. Assange's lawyer, Bj?rn Hurtig, hoped that the Supreme Court would stop the prosecution.

"I am disappointed by this decision. I think some peculiar questions can be asked regarding this decision," Hurtig said.

Assange, was accused of rape and molestation by Swedish authorities in August. His whereabouts are currently uncertain, but according to the British newspaper " The Times" he is in South Eastern England.

Recently, more than 250 000 diplomatic cables were obtained by the whistleblower website WikiLeaks, founded by Julian Assange, and were given to major US media, which published them on Sunday, exposing inner workings of US diplomacy, including candid and embarrassing assessments of world leaders.

The diplomatic turmoil caused by Assanges website led even to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper calling for his assassination.
