A suspicious package has been discovered in the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, it was alarmed just hours after a string of attacks were staged at a number of foreign embassies in Athens, Greece.
The information, reported by German media and confirmet by the Chancellor's Office and police authorities alike, confirms that explosives have indeed been uncovered in the package.
The shipment was rendered harmless before it caused injuries to anyone
Angela Merkel herself is currently on a visit to Belgium.
Police sources have stated that an advance warning has been received, upon which the entire mail at the Chancellor's Office has been searched.
The sender labelled on the package is reportedly the Greek Ministry of Economy. It had been sent over UPS.
The Athens attacks were directed at the missions of a number of nations, including Germany and Bulgaria.
Monday Greek police had prevented the shipping of a suspicious package addressed to French President Nicolas Sarkozy that turned out to contain explosives.
