Bulgaria's star volleyball player, Matey Kaziyski, Regional Minister, Rosen Plevneliev, and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, are the top three contenders for the title "Man of the Year 2010."
They have been nominated by 120 journalists from Sofia and around the country.
The "Man of the Year" contest is marking this year its 20th anniversary while Darik radio organizes it for the third time in a row.
In 2009, Kaziyski ranked 10th in the same contest, after Bulgaria won the European bronze in Turkey.
Plevneliev's nomination is his first and is attributed to his hard work and adherence to promises, especially to build the country's highways.
Tsvetanov, like Kaziyski, has been nominated for the second time. He was ranked 2nd in 2009. The Minister continues to enjoy high ratings over his effort to fight corruption and organized crime, but has lost points in the last months due to scandals related to alleged undeclared properties and the problems with the issuing of the new IDs, which created huge lines all over the country.
Until November 26, everyone can vote for one of the three at manoftheyear.bg. The rankings of the nominees would be able to be seen until four days before the voting deadline.
The winner will be announced at a special ceremony, held on December 2, at the so-called Youth Drama Theater in downtown Sofia. The title "Mis Charm," founded in 1995, will also be bestowed
The top 10 for 2010 include football star, Dimitar Berbatov (winner of the title in 2009), the director of the all-time Bulgarian box office record breaker "Mission London," Dimitar Mitovski, Father Ivan from the town of Novi Han, near Sofia, for his work to help the homeless, the star of the hit TV series "Glass Home," Kalin Vrachanski, the Minister of Agriculture, Miroslav Naydenov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikolay Mladenov, and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov (also among the top 10 in 2009).
Three ladies are among the nominees as well, despite the "Man of the Year" title – Justice Minister, Margarita Popova, now former Health Minister, Anna-Maria Borisova, and Bulgaria's EU Commissioner, Kristalina Georgieva.
