Dimitar Tsanchev is the new Deputy of Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikolay Mladenov.

The appointment was announced Tuesday by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vesela Cherneva.

Tsanchev served as the Ministry's spokesperson during the term of the previous top diplomat, Ivaylo Kalfin, from the Bulgarian Socialist Party. He is now Bulgaria's Ambassador to Israel, but will receive his new appointment in just days, Cherneva says.

Tsanchev replaces Marin Raykov, who was recently appointed Ambassador to France.
