Elena Yoncheva, the former long-time girlfriend of ex Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, who announced their break-up a year ago under the pressure of the public eye, is pregnant, according to reports.

The popular, respected and very charming journalist broke the happy news to her relatives and closest friends, but it is still not clear how advanced her pregnancy is, local media reported.

According to unconfirmed information the father of the child is her current partner Plamen Todorov, who is twelve years younger than the 46-year-old Elena.

Todorov is reported to be a co-owner of an architecture studio and the two met while he worked on a project for a spa center at Elena's house. Six months ago he moved to live there.

Despite her forty-six years, Elena is determined to give birth to the child, as may be this is her last chance to become a mother and she has always dreamed to have a baby, reports say.

"Sergey will always remain my best friend," Elena Yoncheva told bTV channel in September last year, confirming earlier rumours about her split with Sergey Stanishev.

Answering the numerous questions of the audience, Yoncheva said she has not been doing investigative documentaries for the last eight years to avert conflict of interest allegations due to her personal relationship with Stanishev, who is also leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.

"I felt a more free person in Somalia, than I do in Bulgaria," said the top journalist, who was in the African country to shoot a film about the lives of the Somali pirates.

Elena Yoncheva has been long years journalist at the Bulgarian National Television. She was the only Bulgarian journalist to cover the war in Iraq. For her documentary Yoncheva and operator Oleg Popov were bestowed high-military awards in January 2004.
