Bosnian Serb nationalist Milorad Dodik has won the presidential elections in Republika Srpska.

The electoral commission has announced that Dodik, who is currently the Prime Minister of the Bosnia's Serb-run entity, won 53,13% of the votes on Sunday after counting of 73,3% of the ballots.

Far behind is his major opponent, Ognjen Tadic, with 37,12% of the votes.

Another voting that also took place on Sunday was the voting for Bosnia's tripartite presidency. Nebojsa Radmanovic, another Bosnian Serb national, won 49,9% of the votes.

Bakir Izetbegovic, who called upon dialogue between Bosnia's deeply divided ethnic groups, won 34,82% of the votes, leading the race for the Muslim spot in the presidency.

He was followed by Fahrudin Radoncic, who gained 30,74% of the votes. The current Muslim leader, Haris Silajdzic, received only 24,86% of the votes on Sunday.

Almost 15 years since the end of the Bosnian war, Muslims, Croats and Serbs remain entrenched in their own communities and the mistrust between the country's two semi-independent entities, the Bosnian Serb-dominated Republika Srpska and the Muslim-Croat Federation, has widened.
