Two Bulgarian nationals have been detained in Dublin on skimming charges during a joint operation of the police and the Bulgarian and Irish Customs agencies.

On Wednesday, agents from the Bulgarian Customs Narcotics Department at the Sofia airport discovered, in a package shipped via express mail to Dublin, two skimming devices ready to be installed. They have been disguised as picture frames.

The authorities in Ireland have been immediately notified, leading to the two arrests in Dublin.

The news was reported Thursday by the Bulgarian Customs Agency. They further inform that in the last 8 months their employees at the Sofia airport have been able to successfully counteract several Bulgarian crime groups operating in Europe and the US. More than 20 skimming devices have been seized.
