A gunman has opened fire in a street in Slovakia's capital Bratislava, killing six people and injuring 14, BBC reports, citing local officials.

Latest reports say four women and two men were killed in the Devinska Nova Ves neighborhood, a suburb northwest of the city.

Police rushed to the scene and sealed off the area, but so far details of the shooting are sketchy. The police have scheduled a press conference for later Monday afternoon.

A three-year-old child was reportedly among the 14 injured taken to hospital.

Local people are warned to stay inside. Eyewitnesses report a man seemingly “lost his mind” and began shooting from his personal Volkswagen automobile at people on the street and at houses’ windows.
