The Czech-owned power utility CEZ, one of the three major electric power suppliers in Bulgaria, begins to pilot test Wednesday its new electronic invoice system.

All customers can visit the company’s official site, www.cez.bg, to participate in a poll about the new service, CEZ informs, saying the electronic invoice is a response to increased customer interest.

The new service is ecologically sound because it economizes paper while the funds from the lowered expenses will be reinvested in improving the quality of services.

Starting in October, CEZ customers will have the option to receive monthly electronic bills.

The bill will be generated through the company’s client software SAP IS-U, and signed with an electronic certificate for authenticity guarantee. It will be emailed to customers in PDF format and will be identical to the paper one.

According to company data, in the last five years CEZ has invested in Bulgaria about BGN 1.7 B; of them BGN 400 M in the power distribution network. Losses from this network are down 5% in 5 years – from 20% to 15%.
