A long line of heavy duty trucks has formed at the Turkish – Bulgarian border cross point at Kapukule near the town of Edirne.

There are about 240 trucks waiting to cross the border and enter Bulgaria at Capitan Andreevo. The line is 6-kilometer long, according to the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR.

Turkish media reports say the border jam has been caused by the fact most Turkish carriers left Friday so that they can deliver the goods to the European markets by Monday. In addition, during the weekend the Bulgarian Customs have been short on staff thus delaying the crossing of the border.

It is expected the line will be gone by the evening.
