People in Bulgaria have died in murders for hire against payment of just BGN 2 000 to the perpetrators, the head prosecutor in the probe codenamed “Killers”, Boyko Naydenov, informs.
Naydenov spoke Tuesday in an interview for the Bulgarian National TV, BNT, saying after uncovering the way the killings have been executed, his office and the investigators are now collecting evidence to press charges before the court.
The Prosecutor explained that communication and planning among the members of the crime group have been very complex and elaborate, with the actual killer never knowing who had ordered the murder and vice versa.
Naydenov further said there is information the group has been involved in other high-profile murders, in addition to the one of Yuriy Galev, the controversial president of the Rilski Sportist football club and municipal councilor in the town of Samokov, but the evidence is still being examined. He informed Galev's murder was triggered by the clash of business interests, but declined to offer more information over the pending official charges.
When there are murders for hire, the money is usually paid in installments and the amounts vary greatly, according to Naydenov.
