Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and leader of the ruling GERB party, Boyko Borisov, declared that any indication of a lobbying attempt or any other violation on the part of party activists would trigger dismissals and resignations.
Borisov spoke Wednesday during the morning block of the private TV channel Nova Televizia, addressing the changes in the leadership of the Parliament after the resignations of Lachezar Ivanov from the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee and GERB Members of the Parliament Svetlin Tanchev from the post Head of the Parliamentary Committee on EU Funds absorption and Plamen Tsekov as Deputy Chair of the Health Committee.
The PM, however, pointed out that the actions of the above three have not triggered any harmful consequences unlike those of MPs and ministers from the former government, who were involved in scandals until the very end of their term and have passed so many lobbyist laws that the economy is now in shambles.
