EU Gas Storage at 90% Full; Bulgaria Faces High Energy Poverty Rates
According to the European Commission’s annual report on the Energy Union, EU gas storage facilities are now 90% full
The first priority of the Belgian Presidency of EU will be fighting the economic crisis and pursuit of economic and financial transformation, the Belgian Ambassador in Bulgaria, Marc Michielsen announced.
Michielsen said that during its mandate, Belgium will try to implement structural reforms in the financial supervision, to restore the budgetary discipline, to strengthen the stability of the Eurozone, and to pay special attention to education and research programs.
Climate and environmental changes have been announced by the Belgian Ambassador in Bulgaria as another important topic for the Belgian Presidency. Michielsen said that his country will try to connect these issues to other areas, such as European transport, energy and fiscal policies.
He noted that the COP 16 climate summit in Cancun and the 10th conference on biological diversity in Nagoya, Japan will be the two main events on this subject in the next six months.
Michielsen also said that security and justice, social policies, and EU enlargement are the other fields that his country's Presidency will focus mostly on.
He added that the result of the SAPARD case will be taken into consideration by the European Commission when preparing the report for Bulgaria's achievements in the reform of the judicial system and the combating of organized crime.
