Bulgaria’s capital is going to start building several overpasses by the end of 2010, announced Mayor Yordanka Fandakova reversing a decision from March 2010 to freeze the infrastructure projects.
Speaking during a forum about the urban transportation in Sofia, Mayor Fandakova promised to table within a week the projects for the overpasses to the Sofia City Council in order to ask the councilors allow spending an EUR 68 M loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on them.
Thus, the Sofia Municipality plans to construct overpasses at the Lion’s Bridge, the crossroads of the Iv. Ev. An overpass will be constructed for the trams at the “Five Corners” crossroads in the very downtown.
A further overpass is considered near the freight train station (i.e. “Stochna Gara”), Sofia Chief Prosecutor Petar Dikov announced.
