Bulgaria’s President, Georgi Parvanov and First Lady, Zorka Parvanova, hosted for the 9th year in a row the high-school prom for youth living in orphanages.

The President opened the doors of its residence in the Sofia suburb of Boyana to 299 high-school seniors. The famous “Coo-Coo Band” from the late-nigh show of host Slavi Trifonov performed for the graduates.

Parvanov informed that over 4 000 high-school students have attended the prom in Boyna over the 9 years, and wished the class of 2010 fun Saturday evening and future luck and success.

“The fact this celebration is held in the Presidential residence is symbolic; it shows that even disadvantage children are owners of our State,” the Head of State said.

In addition to the prom, a work and study fair with representatives of universities, colleges, and the business, is organized to present the orphan high-school seniors with future opportunities. Parvanov thanked the participating companies for their help despite the economic crisis.

The President awarded the Consul of Cyprus with the State honorary sign over Cyprus’ help for Bulgarian high-school graduates, who are orphans.

The students gave Parvanov an icon of St. George as a gift.
