Bulgaria’s Parliament appointed Friday a new seven-member supervisory board of the newly reshaped State Privatization Agency.

The new members include Deputy Mayor of Sofia Yuliya Nenkova, city councilor Orlin Ivanov, and businessman Mihail Vladov, all of them nominated by the ruling GERB party.

Rusi Statkov nominated by the opposition Socialist Party keep his place on the board, and so did Sevdzhav Sadkuev, nominated by the ethnic Turkish party DPS.

Dimitar Bachvarov, Deputy Chair of the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria Party, also remains on the board, nominated by the rightist Blue Coalition.

Lawyer Petar Petrov nominated by the nationalist party Ataka was also approved as one of the privatization agency supervisors.

According to recent legislation amendments, the seven members of the supervisory board have to elect its chair.

In March 2010, the Bulgarian went ahead with the merger of the Privatization Agency and the Agency for Post-Privatization Control in order to reduce costs and to eliminate institutions with overlapping functions.

On Friday, the Parliament dismissed the members of the two boards of the merged bodies, with the exception of Statkov, Sadkuev, and Bachvarov, who had been on the board of the former Agency for Post Privatization Contol.
