Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum Hands Out 2014 Responsible Business Awards
The Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) handed out its Annual Responsible Business Awards for a 12th year in a row on Wednesday.
Bulgaria’s Labor Ministry is going to compile a “white book” containing a list of companies applying the principles of corporate social responsibility in the country.
The white book listing the names of businesses that are socially responsible with respect to their laborers will be ready by the end of 2010, promised Veselin Ilkov, expert at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
Ilkov took part Monday in an international seminar on “Encouraging Responsible Labor Practices” organized by the Ministry and the International Labor Organization as part of Bulgaria’s National Strategy for Corporate Social Responsibility.
It is primarily large multinational corporations that adhere to the principles of social responsibility in Bulgaria but some Bulgarian companies are also starting to take up such practices, according to the Labor Ministry expert.
“There practices are no luxury, they are increasingly becoming a standard for the survival of the businesses on the international market,” Ilkov explained.
“Company canteens, food coupons, sports facilities, coverage of public transport expenses, company vacations are all examples of such good practices. Firms can also support the local municipalities for infrastructure development, green areas, etc,” he said.
