Stefanov, who gave Thursday an account of the 2010 tax season, said that a total of 530 000 people have submitted declarations which is with 13 000 more compared to 2009 while for businesses 30 000 more have declared taxes in 2010.
The NRA Director pointed out that Bulgarian people are becoming more disciplined despite their reduced income in times of crisis and begin to understand that they must pay taxes if they want to live in a normal State. He defined the 2010 tax season as successful.
Stefanov further said that about 100 people are probed by NRA, the police and the National Agency for State Security (DANS) for ties with the alleged members of the kidnappers' crime group codenamed “The Impudent” which was busted in December, 2009.
The probe is being carried out in Bulgaria and abroad while the bank accounts of the suspects are blocked to prevent tax evasion and concealment of assets.
