A delegation of Bulgarian mayors has been brought home from Brussels by car by guest laborers.
The twelve-member delegation of Bulgarian mayor who participated in a meeting of the EU Committee of Regions remained stranded in Brussels as their flight was canceled on Wednesday.
As the Mayors were wondering what to do, the Mayor of the Northeastern Bulgarian town of Tsar Kaloyan, Ahmed Ahmedov, found a way to bring everybody home, Ahmedov himself announced, as quoted by Darik Radio.
Ahmedov managed to get in touch with guest laborers who helped the stranded Bulgarian mayors.
Some 300 natives from the small town of Tsar Kaloyan make a living as guest workers in Brussels. As a number of them were had planned to come home to Bulgaria by car over the weekend, they took in the mayors.
The road trip from Brussels took about 30 hours but the Bulgarian mayors managed to get home by Saturday night to their municipalities, which had been gathered by their deputies in the meantime.
