Bulgaria: Bulgaria Police Capture Drug Dealing Cop in Varna

A police officer and four other men have been detained overnight in the Bulgarian city of Varna as part of a drug dealing ring.

The special operation was controlled by the Varna Prosecutor’s Office and was executed by the Internal Security Directorate and special police units of the Interior Ministry.

The police have captured a sizable quantity of amphetamines and marijuana. The busted policeman is an officer at the Firth Police Unit in Varna.

The five men have been placed behind bars for 72 hours, and the prosecutors will demand their permanent detention.

Interior Minister Tsvetanov has refused to provide details on the operation. His only comment was that it was part of the regular and systematic work of the Interior Ministry against organized crime.
