There isn't any evidence that the high-ranking member of the ethnic Turkish party, Ahmed Emin was murdered, the Director of the Bulgarian National Agency for State Security (DANS), Svetlin Yovchev says.
Yovchev, who spoke Friday, declined offering any more details, except that the murder is not been probed even as a possible version. He further explained that the investigators were looking to find out if someone had pushed Emin to commit suicide, adding the probe should be brought to conclusion by the end of next week.
At the end of February, Yovchev also rejected reports that Emin was an agent of Bulgaria's National Security Agency. Yovchev was replying to claims made by Kamen Kostadinov, an MP from the DPS party that Emin, who committed suicide in the fall of 2008, was involved in a DANS plot to kill the party leader Ahmed Dogan.
Ahmed Emin, was one of the major figures of Bulgaria’s ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, and Chief of Staff of the DPS leader, Ahmed Dogan. Emin's body was found on the afternoon of 17 October 2008 in the Sofia quarter of Boyana, in the notorious estate, allegedly belonging to Dogan. In mid-April 2009, the Prosecutor's Office in Sofia officially closed the investigation into his death, concluding that he committed suicide.
