An ATM was stolen last night in the capital's Lyulin district
Three Bulgarians have been charged with defrauding banks through electronic skimming of ATMs in Eastern Massachusetts.
For a period of 44 days, the three men managed to collect information stored on the magnetic strips of cards used on ATMs of Bank of America and Citizens Bank, The Register reported. They also used cameras to record the respect personal identification numbers.
Ivaylo Hristov, 28, and Anton Venkov, 40, both Bulgarian nationals residing in Toronto, and Vladislav Vladev, 36, from Sofia, Bulgaria, have been charged by a Boston court with using counterfeit ATM cards, bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, and possession of device-making equipment. The men are believed to have stolen USD 137 724.
Hristov and Vladev face up to 57 years in prison each and Venkov – up to 42 years. Each of them might also be sentenced to a fine of USD 1,25 M.
