Haiti now looks differently at the help and earthquake relief efforts that originate in Bulgaria, the “Haiti Press Network” writes.
The article, titled “Some Are Profiteering from Haiti’s Tragedy,” focuses on the Saturday incident in which Romanian authorities discovered “hundreds of kilograms” of heroin hidden in a Bulgarian registered truck carrying aid for Haiti.
Romanian policemen and sniffer dogs found the haul in bottles next to the brake system of the truck, which was traveling from Bulgaria to Belgium.
Similar comments further appeared in the Russian press Sunday. Pravda.ru writes the driver is facing 25 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vesela Cherneva, informs the arrest at the Romanian-Hungarian border has been a joint operation between the Bulgarian and the Romanian police. The driver has been followed since his departure from Bulgaria, Cherneva says.
