Bulgarian athletes participating in the Vancouver Winter Olympics have been surprised as they were approached for interviews by Australian state radio SBS.
Australia’s SBS radio has contacted the Bulgarian headquarters at the Vancouver Olympics asking the Bulgarian athletes about their performance so far, and about their expectations for the remaining contests.
The Bulgarian team has seen the interview request from the SBS radio as “unexpected and a little strange.”
Sources from the Bulgarian headquarters in Vancouver said they believed the Australian interest in the Bulgarian Olympians stemmed from the fact that Bulgaria’s young snowboarding star, Alexandra Jekova, is the girlfriend of Australian snowboarder Alex Pullin.
