Bulgaria Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has ordered cabinet ministers to make public all instances of failures of European funds made by the previous government.

The officials responsible will be named, and the reasons for the admitted shortcomings will be declared.

In relation to EU funding, Borisov announced on Wednesday: "Today we have established our headquarters - Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister, respectively, ISPA, Phare, in ecology, the regional ministry, and internal affairs.

"Mr Djankov goes to Brussels today to meet with everyone; he will give them the plan that we have, the analysis that we have made and the way we intend to proceed.

"We are trying to fix their [BSP] mess. Therefore I have turned to Stanishev to be more cooperative. He knows what he has caused, at least they should keep a low profile."

PM Borisov also commented on Wednesday on the rumors about forthcoming riots by Bulgarian tobacco producers, behind which, according to him, stood the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).

"What bothered me and what I have been repeating for a long time is that it is they who are preparing tobacco producers for riots. They pressure them not to admit that they are behind them.

"We have told the tobacco growers that, for exactly four years, these people spent their time asleep, while the Greek government won EUR 750 M a year in subsidies from Brussels.

"At their meeting with me, I told them that we guarantee them EUR 116 M the moment we are ready. Hopefully by the end of March, we will be ready to pay them.

"They are now starting to blackmail us for EUR 160 - 175 M. They know that there is no money now, and that it is a pure racket, if they want more than EUR 116 M," The Prime Minister concluded.
