The Sofia City Court decided Sunday to release on bail alleged Bulgarian crime boss Krasimir Marinov, aka "The Big Marguin".

The Prosecutor's Office had charged Marinov with being the leader of an organized crime group in charge of drug dealing in Sofia.

According to the Court, there is no evidence that the Big Marguin is associated with the group in question. It decided to release him immediately.

The other defendant Stefan Bonev, aka Sako, however, was left behind bars. The third defendant - Milen Aleksiev - was also released on bail.

The court believes that the only evidence against Krasimir Marinov was the testimony of one of a man called Tihomir Georgiev, who has himself been arrested for leading an organized drug dealing group. After his arrest, he accused Marinov of this crime.

This is the second significant charge against Krasimir Marinov in several days which has not been upheld by the court. Marinov has been charged with plotting the murder of controversial journalist Bobi Tsankov, who was shot dead in Sofia on January 5, 2010, but the court rejected the demand of the prosecutors that he be left behind bars.
