The police busted Saturday a shop for the bottling of fake brand name liquor, located in the Sofia’s “Knyazhevo” district.

The illegal shop had been discovered during a probe of the Main Directorate “Criminal Police” and a team from the Customs Agency, after they received a signal about its existence.

The probe found about 300 liters of whisky in plastic containers and 1 500 bottles of whisky and vodka, bearing the labels of popular brands such as "Chivas Regal", "Johnny Walker", "Jack Daniels", "Absolut" and "Finlandia" among others.

Bottling equipment, empty bottles, corks, essences and fake excise labels were also found inside the shop.

The shop, according to initial information, has been rented by a Lebanese citizen, F.D., 31, who has not been known to the police.

Pre-trail proceedings have been initiated and the probe is continuing.
