A third member of the so-called “Crocodile” kidnapping gang has been arrested on Tuesday morning at the Kalotina border checkpoint with Serbia, according to the chief of border police, Zaharin Penov.

Penov confirmed that the person arrested was not Emil Milev-Geyzo, whose brother was arrested a few days ago at the Kalotina checkpoint, but another person called Dimitar, who had probably left the country at the same time as the Geyzo brothers.

As for Dimitar Ivanov, the border guard arrested on suspicion of colluding with the gang, Penov said that this was his first offense. He was arrested on Monday for 24 hours, released and then taken into detention once again.

The “Crocodiles” are being sought for by Bulgarian police, following the attempted kidnapping of a Turkish citizen on the Trakia highway on December 13. In the subsequent shoot-out, one member of the gang, who had been masquerading as policemen, was killed.
