Bulgaria police are searching for 10 people from a highway robbery gang called “The crocodiles” after a top Bulgarian gangster was shot dead by police in an incident on the Trakiya highway earlier Monday.
Sofia Interior Ministry Chief, Todor Iliev, said that the wanted men all took part in similar activities, including drug dealing and ammunition storage, as Dimitar Mitrev aka Bogrovetsa who was shot dead by police on Monday.
Mitrev was killed after he and his fellow gangsters stopped the car of a Turkish national disguised as policemen. They handcuffed him, stole his money and possessions and abandoned him on the Trakiya highway near Vakarel.
When police intervened, the criminals opened fire and Mitrev was killed in the following shoot-out. His accomplice managed to run away unhurt.
