Yancho Yanev, the new Director of Bulgaria’s Fishing and Aqua Cultures Agency, has donated 500 kg of fish seized from poachers to the municipal institution for underprivileged elders in Burgas.

The fish was poachers’ catch seized by Agency inspectors late Wednesday night during a raid in the Mandra Lake. The inspectors also captured 2 000 meters of poaching nets.

The municipal institution for underprivileged elders is going to freeze part of the donated fish to use it for soup for St. Nikola’s Day (December 6) when Bulgarians have a tradition to prepare fish dishes.
