Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, informed that his own wife recently ran a red light and was fined by the traffic police.

Tsvetanov told the story Monday while speaking with students from the Veliko Tarnovo University, saying the traffic policemen never realized they were sanctioning the wife of their highest-ranking boss.

The Minister's wife had been fined BGN 50 and 8 points. She already paid the fine.

“Now I have a perfect reason to refuse to anyone interceding with the traffic police. Personal example is crucial for the morals of those leading the country,” Tsvetanov told the young people.
