Bulgaria police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Sofia for double murder after an incident near the Vacha Dam in Southern Bulgaria.

Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov confirmed the murder Tuesday that occurred at 21:00 Monday night after 3 men went fishing on a pontoon of the dam reservoir.

4 men, including the pontoon owner, arrived at the site on Monday and were met by the security guard of the pontoon.

An argument allegedly occurred at the reservoir side and the 30-year-old man pulled out a legally owned hand gun and shot the security guard and one of his fishing colleagues (30 and 35 years old respectively).

The Director of Plovdiv police, Todor Chonov, reported that the man then tried to escape by swimming across the reservoir but was soon caught by police. He added that the site of the crime has now been cordoned off for investigation.
