Two packages with blood samples intended for A(H1N1) testing have been stolen from a van of a freight forwarding company in the northeast Bulgarian city of Razgrad.
Unknown thieves broke in through one of the back doors of the truck while it was parked in the downtown of Razgrad, and stole the biological samples.
The police did not rule out the possibility that the thieves might not know what they had stolen, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The director of the Razgrad Health Directorate, Yordanka Nikolova, said anyone in contact with the samples risking contracting swine flu if the blood was actually infected. The case is under investigation.
