The pygmy marmoset that the zoo of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia acquired a month ago has been named Juju.

The rare animal got its name after a naming competition organized by National Geographic KIDS Bulgaria, in which children from around the country submitted proposals. The winner is Tatyana Ivanova from Sofia who received a parrot as an award.

National Geographic KIDS have “adopted” the pygmy marmoset Juju a well as the monkey inhabitants of four cages in the Sofia Zoo.

Dr. Ivan Ivanov, the Director of the Sofia Zoo, which is the largest in Balkans, has expressed his satisfaction with the initiative to name the unique animal, and its positive impact on raising awareness about animal life and the zoo.
