A District Court Judge in Kyustendil has been arrested for taking bribes, Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov reported Tuesday.

Judge Yuri Hristov Marinov had accepted a BGN 24 000 bribe to cancel a tax assessment claim against a Kyustendil construction company worth BGN 1,4 M. A border policeman was also involved in the bribery case. It is not yet sure what part of the bribe was for the judge and what part was for the border policeman.

The Pernik construction company ‘Almateya Prima’ sent the signal to the National State Security Agency (DANS) for the corruption scheme.

According to Darik Radio, Marinov took the bribe as he has run up huge debts betting on football matches.
