Panko Todorov, the sailor who was flown back to Bulgaria from Iran in early October, will be discharged from hospital after his condition has improved.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, visited Monday morning Todorov in the Military Hospital in Sofia.

The sailor's wife, Elena, thanked Borisov for the help he and the state gave Todorov, and informed that her husband's medical condition has improved significantly and he will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

Panko Todorov has real chances to recover completely in a year, associate professor Nikolay Petrov said. The sailor is conscious, and there are few things that should be treated, he added.

Elena Todorova announced that the family would file a case against the company Bulcom that owned the ship of which crew Todorov was part of.

Todorov was serving on a Cypriot-owned ship sailing under Panamanian flag when he felt sick. Shortly after his hospitalization in Iran, he was already in a coma.

In the beginning of August, PM Boyko Borisov, decided to send a special plane to bring the sick sailor back to Bulgaria.

After he is dismissed from the Military Hospital in Sofia, Todorov will be taken to the Military Hospital in Varna, where his treatment will continue.
