Bulgaria’s President Says Early Parliamentary Election Inevitable
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said on January 28 that an early general election seems inevitable as democracy in the country “has been losing momentum”, according to intellinews.
The police in Sofia arrested Thursday top journalist, Elena Yoncheva, for begging on a downtown street over mistaken identity.
Yoncheva agreed to take part in the TV show "Star Reporter" of the TV channel Nova Televizia and has been doing undercover reports about people who make a living by begging.
The journalist, dressed in shabby clothes, stood at a busy intersection in the capital to experience first hand the beggar's faith. During her first "work day" in the new role, Yoncheva, reportedly, collected about BGN 8 in a matter of 15 minutes.
The Sofia police arrested her and she barely escaped a charge of illegal begging before being recognized.
In addition to her investigative documentaries, Yoncheva has been known as the the long-beloved girlfriend of former Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev. Just days ago she announced officially their break-up and said they remained the best of friends.
